The Simpangan river at Kota Marudu is actually not a popular place, but I like what I see there, so I think there’s nothing wrong of me promoting this place. Who know it will become famous one day and my statue will be built there as a way of remembering my efforts to make it famous, haha, okay, I’m just kidding.

The tip of Borneo also well known as Simpang Mangayau is located 40 KM from Kudat town. Simpang Mangayau means ‘lingering junction’ where the South China Sea lingers and meets the Sulu Seas flowing from the east. The local dialect name is Tanjung Sampang Magazo, which means a junction where a battle took place. It was believed that long time ago, this place had been used as a lookout point to drive off the pirates.
